Glengarry Scottish CAP HAT 100% Wool Russet Reproduction Civil War Style New

Description

1860's, Civil War Era style reproduction Glengarry cap. The cap is made of russet colored 100% wool. It is lined with ocher colored cotton broadcloth.  The hat is decorated with a beautiful woven ribbon with floral designs in black white gold and rust. Matching ribbons hang from the V-shaped back.
The hat is size large and measures 26". The crown is 3 3/4" high.
Glengarry caps (or Glengarry Bonnets) have been thought to have been worn by the Scottish military since 1794.  The hat was adopted by men and boys in England. By the  time of the American Civil War, it was a popular civilian hat for ladies, children and men copied from the 1850's English fashions.
