    Description

    Sandalina coral or slipper {
    Calceola}
    coral is a
    coral of the order Rugosa, also known as Tetracoralla, which was widespread in the Devonian period. It was a solitary coral, with a characteristic slipper or sandal-like shape and is now extinct. A hinged, semicircular operculum enabled this organism to close the articulated conical cavity of its main structure.These specimens are
    sized approximately 1/4 to 1 3/4 inch long by 1/2 to 1 1/2 inch wide and lotted into 4 piece lots scooped from coral pieces as pictured with many pieces having matrix rock still attached and many pieces only partial but most having the flat bottoms showing the growth lines and some showing the classic slipper formation.
