    Description

Vintage Japanese "Sensu" Folding Fan w/Stand, Evening Snow at Kanbara, Tokyo 1980
This beautiful Japanese “Sensu” folding fan was purchased in Tokyo in 1980. The fan design is a print of the renowned woodblock print artist, Utagawa Hiroshige, who lived between 1797 and 1858. The title of this print is Evening Snow at Kanbara and is part of Utagawa's famous Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō. The rear side of the fan is simple off-white paper, sprinkled with gold flakes. The fan is 11 1/4" high and opens to a width of 19 3/4”. The wood display stand is dark brown, matching the bamboo of the fan.
The fan is in very good condition for its age and has never been displayed. Please see all the photos for a more complete description of the fan and stand and their condition.
